Lisa Stevenson Psychotherapy

Integrative Counselling, Psychotherapy, Clinical Supervision in Derby and Online

About Me

I'm Lisa Stevenson, and I've been working as a psychotherapist for over 20 years. My journey started in mental health, and for most of that time I worked organisationally, including at a large local relationship charity, before deciding to develop my private practice.

What I've learnt over the years is just how common it is for people in intimate relationships to become unhappy. Sometimes it's communication problems, anger, boredom, or sexual difficulties, and these issues really tie in together. Modern life doesn't help either as we're all juggling busy careers and lives, and it's easy to drift apart from the people we love most.

The thing is, when you're unhappy in your relationship, it doesn't stay contained.

It affects everything, including your career, your parenting, your friendships, your self-esteem. The ripple effect is huge.

That's why I focus so much on relationship and psychosexual work. Often people come to me after an infidelity, dealing with the trauma and betrayal that goes alongside that. Sometimes couples present with what looks like relationship issues, but there are sexual problems underneath, or vice versa. It's all connected.

I use an integrative approach, meaning whatever we do together is completely tailored to you and your unique circumstances. I'm not interested in cookie-cutter solutions or putting everyone through the same process. You're an individual, and your therapy should reflect that.

I work exclusively online, which means I can support people not just in Derby and Derbyshire, but much further afield. I've found this works particularly well for psychosexual work, as people often feel more comfortable discussing intimate issues from the safety of their own space.

Whether you're coming to me as an individual, as part of a couple, or you're a fellow therapist looking for supervision, my approach is the same: warm, professional support focused on helping you make meaningful changes that actually stick.
